In 1964, during a historic flood, the house suffered significant damage and was completely submerged on the ground floor. However, it miraculously retained nearly all of its architectural and cultural values.

In 1990, Tan Ky House received the prestigious recognition as a National Historic and Cultural Site and was also designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Remarkably, it remains a privately-owned house, with the family residing on the upper floor while opening the ground floor for visitors.

The most precious relic on display is the “Confucius Cup,” dating back 550-600 years and connected to ancient stories about Confucius. It is considered one of the rarest and most valuable artifacts in Vietnam.
